What Does The Acura P1404 Code Mean?

Condition for setting the DTC: Engine started, system voltage from 11-16v, ECT sensor from 176-248, IAT sensor less than 212ºF, desired EGR valve position is 0%, and the PCM detected the difference between the Actual and Desired EGR pintle position was over 30% for 5 seconds.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Acura P1404 Code?

  • EGR valve sticking or binding (check for deposits on the valve)
  • EGR valve is damaged or has failed (if the valve shows signs of excessive heat, check the converter and pipes for a restriction)
