What Does The Honda P16BE Code Mean?

Engine running, Starter switch OFF cut relay turn on switching failure, ON STRLD open circuit failure. One of these conditions occurs:

  • (1) The terminal voltage of the STRLD exceeds 3.0 volts for at least 5 seconds when the starter cut relay output is turned off.
  • (2) The terminal voltage of the STRLD is 2.4-2.6 volts for at least 0.8 second when the starter cut relay output is turned on.

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot.

What Are The Potential Causes Of The Honda P16BE Code?

  • Poor connections or loose terminals at starter cut relay 1 and the PCM
  • Faulty starter relay 1
